Microsoft Server 2008 Certification - Routing's Not Just For Cisco Exams Anymore!

Knowing routing theory and routing protocols has always been a big part of earning your Cisco CCNA and CCNP certifications. According to Microsoft's exam blueprints for the Server 2008 certification exams, that knowledge will also serve you well on your Microsoft exams.

The topic outline for the Configuring Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure exam (70-642) specifically mentions routing and routing protocols as exam topics. Specifically mentioned are RIP, OSPF, and static routing - three topics every CCNA and CCNP candidate will be well prepared to handle!

IPSec isn't part of the CCNA exam, but you'll see it on at least one CCNP exam, and it's also listed as a 70-642 exam topic. IPv6 and IPv4 addressing are both covered on the 70-642 as well.

Microsoft's website lists the following major skills you should expect to see on this exam:

Configuring IP addresses and Services (routing with RIP and OSPF, static routing, persistent routing, addressing, DHCP and DHCP options including relay agents, IPSec policies, Authentication Header and Encapsulating Security Payload, subnetting, supernetting)

Configuring Name Resolution (DNS configuration, zones, records, replication, and integration with Active Directory, and client computer name resolution techniques)

Configuring Network Access (includes NAT, VPNs, RADIUS, 802.1x authentication, MS-CHAP, firewalls, and remote authentication methods)

Configuring File And Print Services (self-explanatory)

Monitoring And Managing A Network Infrastructure (includes SNMP and Windows Server Update Services)

Your CCNA and CCNP preparation will not quite be enough to get you past this exam, but as you can see, it'll give you a great head start!

5 Steps for Get Started With Domain Names

Domain names are becoming a popular business for many people who want to work at home at their computers. They are currently selling for anywhere between a few dollars to a whopping few million. Here are 5 steps to getting started in lucrative domain names.

Step 1: Sign Up with a Broker

Its much easier to start a lucrative domain names business on the coattails of a domain name broker. However, be sure you research the broker and make sure they will do more for you than provide a listing service.

Step 2: Dont Get Cute

Only buy names that can be resold at a profit. Dont use names just because someone thinks theyre clever (including you).

Step 3: Check the Names

Make sure the names you buy are not taken by someone else. Look it up in the registries before hand. You can, however, use expired domain names.

Step 4: Advertise

Even though you will probably be listed with a broker who may provide space for your business on their website, make your own as well. Get on blogs and forums where you are allowed to post links. Also use internet press release services and other media release outlets.

Step 5: Alternative Names

Lucrative domain name business people buy more than one name--they will buy related ones as well. For instance, dont just buy the .com suffix--buy .org, .net, and any other extensions that may benefit that name.

There you have it. Take some time and determine if this is right for you.

Ways to Make Money Online

I found there are many, many ways to make money online. I have started researching for this a little over a year ago when a bad divorce forced me to move back in with my parents. I ended up foreclosing on a home and filing bankruptcy. I was desperate so I started searching online.

I was looking into ways to make money online without spending any money at first. I came across paid survey sites these are sites that ask for your opinions on certain products, restaurants, or different stores. Some pay by check while others send you gifts and some even pay via paypal. Some even send you products to test for them. While this is a free way to make some money its not the quickest way to make money.

So I looked into a few more avenues. I checked some forums that had to do with making money online. I then ran into a new search engine called ChaCha that actually hired people to be search guides for other people that was also a means for me to make extra money online but once again it was a slow process.

I soon ran into paid to click programs which paid you to click on links to websites this also was a slow process of making money online. Then things started to turn around for me. I was introduced to a few paid offers programs. These seemed to make me a little more money than anything else I was doing. The best part of these are that if you get people under you you get paid a percentage of what they make online as well. Thinks began on the up and up for me......I was doing surveys, paid to click programs, paid offer programs and also a chacha guide. I was making about an extra 200- 300 a month which was not bad but VERY time consuming.

I soon developed my own free website with all the information I had gathered about making money online and started to promote it as a way to get referrals (the more referrals you have under you the more money you can make without spending as much time). I soon had a pretty good referral base and was upping my monthly online income to around 400 - 500 per month ....not too bad for no investment money wise although it was a big investment of my time.

I then started to use some of that money I was making online and started to research some other ways to make money online. I soon ventured down the road of being an affiliate. I advertised other people's products and this made me an even bigger chunk of money. I would promote some of these products on my website and on the message boards all these were free ways to advertise.

My monthly income started to climb now from 800.00 to 1200.00 a month this was great. Soon I found products that were constantly selling for me and I started to pay a little bit for advertising I would spend around 20.00 a week in advertising costs. Soon my monthly income jumped up to over 2,000 a month which is were I am at right now.

Bottom line is yes you can make money online for free as a matter of fact I recommend starting out that way. Work your way up slowly but you eventually want to invest a little of that money you are making back into your business because in all honesty that's the only way you are going to grow your income.

So I hope this has given you all some ideas of were to start when it comes to making money online.
