Having Acne is no fun. Actually it affects more than 70 % of the teens today. Many who have acne feel as social outcasts, are ashamed of their looks and often go into a deep depression. People affected by acne have the same thought on their mind everyday:
"How to Get Rid of Acne Forever?"
Unfortunately there are still some myths associated with how to treat acne:
Myth Number 1:
"Drinking a Lot of Water Will Kill Acne."
It's true that if the skin becomes dehydrated, dead skin cells are not effectively shed, which can lead to blocked pores and further acne. But water alone cannot help to get rid of acne. The cause of acne is the overproduction of sebum which leads to oily skin which in turn draws bacteria (Propionibacterium acne) responsible in causing acne to develop. If you drink about 1,5 - 2 liters of water every day, you'll be fine, but it won't trigger the acne to disappear.
Myth Number 2:
"Eating Chocolate Will Cause Acne."
This belief is simply wrong. Again, acne is not caused by any specific food like chocolate, French fries, candy, soda or potato chips, but by the excess of skin oil (sebum) and the acne-causing bacteria. And those are not triggered by the foods you eat as scientific research has shown: Greasy food like chocolate will not cause your skin to produce more oil. The important factors that play a role here are: 1) Hormonal changes within the body and 2) The predisposition toward oily skin.
Myth Number 3:
"Acne isn't curable. If you're lucky, you might get rid of it."
That's definitely a myth. You don't have to live your whole life with acne, not even your teenage years! Taking care of your skin and using the right products will reduce or even help to get rid of acne completely. Actually, there is one product that was voted as one of the best to treat acne (and it's FREE!):
